Julie Dickinson MBA, BSN, RN, LNCC - Education Chairperson and Co-Founder

    With over a decade of clinical nursing experience ranging from emergency nursing to administration, Julie began working as a Legal Nurse Consultant at Fontaine, Alissi & Knapp, P.C. in Hartford in 2008.  She assists in the defense of medical / dental malpractice, personal injury, professional liability, and healthcare licensure claims. After graduating as Valedictorian of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1998, Julie earned a BSN in 2000 from  Waynesburg College and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.  In 2007, Julie graduated from Yale University as a member of the inaugural class of the Leadership in Healthcare MBA for Executives program.  She has been a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC) since 2007 and is currently serving on the AALNC Board of Directors and several national committees.  Prior to co-founding the Connecticut Chapter of AALNC, Julie was a member of the Southern New England Chapter of the AALNC from 2007 to 2009, where she also served on their Board of Directors as a Director-at-Large and Secretary.  In 2010, Julie achieved national board certification (LNCC) for the nursing specialty of Legal Nurse Consulting.  Additionally, she was awarded the 2010 Chapter Leader of the Year award by AALNC.  Originally from the Pittsburgh area, Julie enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband Tom, their canine “daughter” Paris, and her twin sister Janna.  Julie’s hobbies include playing tennis, singing with the Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords, traveling, hiking, and reading.


Lorraine Doonan BSN, MS - Membership Chairperson

    Lorraine's background is in home healthcare, with a focus in hospice and palliative care. She is the Director of Office Operations for Beacon Hospice, Inc. She is a member of the Connecticut Association for Hospice and Palliative Care's Quality Management Committee. Lorraine was a contributor to the recently published Home Healthcare Management & Practice article, "Depression Screening and Interventons for Older Home Health Care Patients: Program Design and Training Outcomes for a Train-the-Trainer Model". Lorraine holds a B.S.N. from Rutgers University and an M.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In addition to being a member of the CT Chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, she is a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants.


Laura Grossman Nissim RN, MS, CNS, LNCC - President-elect

    Laura G. Nissim has practiced since 1979 in a variety of pediatric settings, from intensive care to rehabilitation in a number of hospitals in the New York area. She began working as an LNC independently approximately 6 years ago, following course work as a paralegal and then the Legal Nurse Consultant program at PACE University School of Nursing, while working in a community nursing environment. In August 2005 Laura began working full time for a large defense firm with offices across the country and overseas. She received national (LNCC) certification in October 2006.  Laura works on and reviews information in a variety of areas including product liability, professional liability, medical malpractice and legal malpractice litigation.  She also works part time as Adjunct Clinical Faculty for the Undergraduate program of the School of Nursing at Sacred Heart University. 


Marvette Lowrie-Morris RN, MSM (Hons), LNHA, CLNC - Secretary & Treasurer

     Marvette is a clinically active Registered Nurse and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with over 26 years experience in healthcare. She treasures her many years of Operating Room Nursing and as a CNOR scrubbed and circulated in Open Heart Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Transplants and General Surgery. Currently she works full time as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and maintains a part-time LNC practice serving both Defense and Plaintiff attorney clients.

     A graduate of Kingston School of Nursing, Marvette practiced as an RN in Jamaica prior to migrating to the U.S. in 1988. She successfully completed the NCLEX-RN exam and practiced as an RN in New York for close to three years. While working full-time and raising a family, Marvette completed an undergraduate degree in Health Care Administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine; Long Term Health Care Administration Certification from University of Connecticut; graduate degree in Business Management from Albertus Magnus College (graduating with Honors), and CLNC Certification from the Medical-Legal Institute in Houston Texas. 

    Marvette is married to Donald and they are parents to 3 children:  Brandie a freshman at John Hopkins University, Danielle a junior and Donald a sophmore both at Bloomfield High School.  They have also opened their hearts and home to a local student who recently became homeless.  Marvette enjoys Broadway Shows, traveling and reading.
